Welcome to Nāmas
Nāmas gives full expression to the essence of the Riviera Maya, with architecture that
nurtures your essential life actions: engage, socialize, rest, care, and release. Breathtaking
designs compliment the raw beauty of Tulum’s surroundings — a modern interpretation
of traditional Mayan aesthetics, integrating traditional construction methods and
materials
Nāmas Tulum masterfully incorporates a variety of architectural inspirations and local
materials into its design. The project takes cues from the geometric structures of the Mitla pyramids in Oaxaca, and
notably integrates design elements inspired by the top of Chichen Itza’s temple. The use of traditional Mayan chukum
materials for the walls and floors, noted for their natural waterproof qualities and smooth finish, enhances the
connection to Mayan heritage. Local woods such as yaxnik and tzalam, along with caliz rocks, further emphasize the
regional authenticity. Designed by mexican architects Barbapiña with artistic contributions from Emanuel Picault´s
Chic by Accident and co-creative direction by Valman, this blend of ancient inspiration and modern design elements
creates a profound link between the structure and its visitors, offering a contemporary tribute to historical
architecture where art and living merge seamlessly.
